Colleen Moore had a very successful film career in the Silent era. In the early years of film history, there were other actresses of Irish descent such as Sally O'Neill, Mary Pickford, Mabel Normand, Delores Costello, Janet Gaynor, Molly O'Day, Mae Murray and many more. Colleen made her success as a "flapper", but this title does not cover her varied career. She made numerous films with Irish stories such as Dinty, Irene, Sally and Smiling Irish Eyes. She had success in playing a dramatic role in So Big. Colleen Moore was the number one box office star for the years 1926 and 1927. She made several "talkie" films before retiring.
