Accordion player Michael Grogan recorded these reels in Dublin in 1938 for the Regal Zonophone label (IZ 985). Ted McGraw points out that Grogan, from Mullingar in Co. Westmeath, was one of the few B/C players of the time. Michael spent time in Scotland, met renowned accordion player Peter Wyper, and later returned to Dublin to perform on Irish radio with fiddler Frank O'Higgins (from the July 17, 1980 interview with Tommy Grogan in the Evening Harold).

Grogan's setting of Miss Monaghan's is particularly lovely.
