We close out the year with the New Year's Eve staple, Auld Lang Syne, written by Robert Burns and set to the tune of a folk song. The Scottish tradition of singing the song at the stroke of midnight is of course common throughout the world today. Evan Williams was a prolific tenor, recording almost one hundred 78rpm records for Victor and Gramophone. This disc was recorded in 1912 and released on the Victrola label (862).
We at the Ward Irish Music Archives with you a happy and healthy New Year. We look forward to sharing more music with you in 2021.
