And we're back! The Work from Home Playlist picks back up this week with 78rpm discs featuring guitar and banjo player Michael "Whitey" Andrews. Andrews is probably best known for accompanying Paddy Killoran and Michael Coleman on a number of sides in the 1930s. One of the first guitar players recorded in Irish music, Andrews was also a banjo accompanist that played in Killoran's ensembles, as well as with a number of other musicians and bands in the New York City dance halls of the 30s. For more information, keep an eye on WIMA's biography on our website as we add more info and compile a playlist of Andrews' recordings from our collections (wardirishmusicarchives.com/Exhibits/Ir…Andrews.htm).
This set of jigs was recorded and released on the Decca label in 1934.
