Colmcille Ceilidhe Band: Plains of Boyle/Supple Dance (hornpipes)

This week's 78rpm disc features the Colmcille Ceilidhe Band with a set of hornpipes. The Supple Dance is also known as the Supple Dancer and appears in O'Neill's Music of Ireland (1646). This set of tunes (as well as the other side's take on King of the Fairies) is highly arranged. Members of this Colmcille Ceilidhe Band also formed the Ceoltoiri na Gael Ceilidhe Band (wardirishmusicarchives.com/WIMA-Blog/C…he-Band.htm).

The recordings were produced by Bill Stapleton and appear on an Irish Recording Company labeled disc as catalog numbers IR 1015 and IR 1016, like before the Irish Records discs were issued. Many thanks to Philippe Varlet for that information.

Released on the Irish Records label (I-3031). From the Ted McGraw Collection, McGraw 78 00-714.
