Aughrim Slopes Ceilidh Band: Friendly Visit/Thomond Bridge (hornpipes)

The Aughrim Slopes Ceilidh Band recorded the hornpipes "The Friendly Visit" and "Thomond Bridge" in 1937, released on the Regal Zonophone label (IZ 722). "The Friendly Visit" appears in O’Neill’s Music of Ireland (sourced from Father William Dollard, of whom O'Neill later wrote in Irish Minstrels and Musicians: "A born musician, he was equally at ease performing on either fiddle or flute").

According to The Companion to Irish Music, the band formed in east Galway under the direction of Jacky Fahy—father of renowned composer and fiddler Paddy Fahy. On this recording, the band features:
