Happy World Concertina Day! We're celebrating with this set of jigs from William J. Mullaly, one of the earliest concertina players of Irish music recorded on 78rpm disc. He's joined here on piano by Edward Lee (who led the Four Provinces Orchestra and recorded with Michael Coleman, among others).
The first tune here is a version of what's known today as Lark on the Strand; the second is known as Mug (or Jug) of Brown Ale as well as Old Man Dillon.
Recorded in 1926 and released on the Victor label (79097). From the David Giovannoni Collection, DG 78 00-243.
