Michael Coleman: Fox Hunter Jig/Comb Your Hair and Curl It (hop jigs)

One of the 78rpm discs that moved into the Public Domain in 2026 is this set of hop jigs recorded by Michael Coleman in September of 1925.

The unidentified piano player seems to not have gotten the message that Coleman intended to recored two tunes in the set, but they (and Coleman) persevered nonetheless. The Foxhunter appears at tune 422 in O'Neill's Dance Music of Ireland, and Comb Your Hair and Curl It appears a couple pages down at tune 447.

Per Alan Morrisroe's research, we've shifted the speed of this transfer down to 75rpm based on Columbia discs at that time.

Released on the Columbia label (33068-F). From the Michael and Mary Comer Collection, Comer 78 00-007.
