Gene Kelly (1912 - 1996)

Kelly made his first debut with his siblings in Vaudeville as The Five Kellys were they would perform dance routines. Later he danced with his brother Fred as The Kelly Brothers and in 1932 Gene opened his own dance studio with the help of his family. In 1938 Gene left for Broadway where he found success in Pal Joey in 1940. Hollywood found Gene and in 1951 and 1952 he starred in two Hollywood classics An American in Paris and Singing in the Rain. Gene made 47 movies and made many appearances on television and a few on radio. Gene won an Academy Award in 1952, an Emmy in 1962 and many lifetime achievement awards. He is considered one of the greatest choreographers and innovative dancers that America has ever produced.
