Myles O'Malley: Sweeps (hornpipe)

This week's disc features another solo tin whistle recording from Myles O'Malley with piano accompaniment from Eileen White. Originally recorded in 1936 and released on the Decca label (12066), this disc is part of the Myles O'Malley: Irish Dances album A-516 compilation released by Decca in 1947. Our copy in Ted McGraw's collection includes the original booklet liner notes which features a nice bio about Myles O'Malley (you can view the entire booklet on our online catalog record: wardarchives.pastperfectonline.com/archive…5766337).

The Sweeps hornpipe (aka The Belfast) was recorded a number of times by various artists in the 78rpm era.

From the Ted McGraw Collection, McGraw 78 03-359.
