Lough Gill Quartette: Ballinue Rake/The Market Man (reels)

Here's the start of another week of the playlist with a fine set of reels from the Lough Gill Quartette, which includes Sarah Hobbs (fiddle), John "Jakes" Cawley (flute), Sonny Brogan (accordion) and Bill Harte (accordion). This was recorded in Dublin in 1941 and released on the His Majesty's Voice label (IM 949). Many thanks to Barry Taylor and Keith Chandler for the discographical information via their UK / Ireland 78 discography of Irish traditional dance music. They list Ballinore Rake as an alternate for the first tune name, second is known as Roaring Mary.

From the Ted McGraw Collection, McGraw 78 01-464.
